"Dear Resident, the Address Validation Letter facility has been discontinued until further notice. Kindly request your address update using another valid PoA document from the list," UIDAI had tweeted on August 10.
People looking to change their address in their Aadhaar card will have to follow a new set of steps as UIDAI. In a reply to user, UIDAI said that people have to provide proof of address or proof of residence now. It said that any one of the 32 mentioned documents can be used to change the address in Aadhaar cards.
Here's how to update address in Aadhaar card:
- Log in to your account using your credentials at ssup.uidai.gov.in/ssup/
- Click on ‘Proceed to Update Aadhaar’
- Enter your 12 digit UID number
- Enter the captcha code
- Click on the ‘Send OTP’ option
- Wait for the OTP to reach the registered mobile number
- Enter the OTP received and Click on ‘Log In’
- Enter the details of your Aadhaar card
- Out of the list of 32 documents ascertaining proof of address and proof of identity, select 1.
Earlier, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) had given the facility to the people of the country that they can update their existing address even when they do not have any documents for address proof. This could be done by sending an address validation letter online with the help of an address verifier and the address verifier can be any family member, friend, landlord, who can allow you to use that address.
