Indian telecom subscribers can switch between paid connections with just an OTP. The process also involves long hours at the outlet for taking, filling out, and submitting the form. Switching from prepaid to postpaid is also a lengthy and complicated one.
According to a CNBC-TV18 tweet dated August 25, the guidelines for the revised process will be released within two weeks. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) might unveil the new guidelines in the coming weeks.
The tweet suggests that the prepaid subscribers will be verified by an OTP and won’t need to fill the application form. After the verification of the OTP, subscribers will have to upload the billing address on the respective telecom operator’s website.
Currently, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are allowing users to switch from prepaid to postpaid by booking an online appointment. The representative will then come to your house to start the switching process.
