WhatsApp has added a new feature to help itself stand out from the crowd. The company has announced that its rolling out the ability to hide muted status updates in the latest Android beta. This feature which was first spotted
as a work in progress a couple of months ago has now finally been rolled out for testing.
The Hide Muted Status Updates feature brings with it the ability to remove all muted updates from the WhatsApp Status section. If not hidden, these muted updates remain at the end of the scroll.
This new functionality would come as welcome news for users who despite muting updates from certain contacts still received updates from them in the status tab in a separate greyed out section. Now with the latest build (version 2.19.260) WhatsApp will give users the chance to hide muted stories altogether.
To enable this feature, users can go into the three-dot menu and mute the intended user's story. Post this, the content will be hidden and can be accessed from the Status tab with an arrow if you want to expand the muted section and see what's there.
The update has already been clicked by WABetaInfo which confirms that "WhatsApp is starting to roll out this feature to help users "hide muted status updates". However, since its a new update it could be a while before all beta users start seeing the new feature.
