Your mobile phone is enough to check your EPFO balance

EPFO SMS Service: For a salaries person, knowing their Provident Fund (PF) balance is no more an uphill task. The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has various provisions to check your PF balance like Umang App, EPFO official website
epfindia.gov.in, EPFO mobile app, SMS service or by a mere missed call from your mobile number. It may happen that the EPFO subscriber is not much internet savvy, in such case SMS service or missed call service would be enough for them to check their EPFO balance.

As per the details available on the EPFO website epfindia.gov.in, if your UAN (Unique Account Number) is registered with the EPFO, you can easily fish out the details of your latest PF contribution and your PF balance by sending an SMS at gievn EPFO number 7738299899. Sender of the SMS need to send this message in this encrypted format: EPFOHO UAN ENG. ENG is the first three characters of the preferred language. So, if some one wants to receive the message in Hindi, then he or she will have to type EPFOHO UAN HIN. Similarly, for other languages, the encrypted SMS format would change.

The EPFO SMS Service facility is available in the following languages — English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali. EPFO would send details of only those EPFO subscribers whose details are with it. So, one needs to make sure that his or her UAN is seeded with its bank account, Aadhaar Card and PAN Card, other wise they will have to ask their employer to seed these details for them. 

If someone is not in mood to use EPFO SMS Service, he or she can send a missed call on the 011-22901406 from their registered mobile number. Here also, the EPFO would send details of only those EPFO subscribers whose details are with it.
