What is Aadhaar offline e-KYC service?
Aadhaar paperless e-KYC is a secure and shareable, offline document that can be used by Aadhaar holders for easy offline verification.
Residents who wish to use the facility can generate their digitally-signed Aadhaar details (such as name, gender, photo, DoB, mobile number etc.) on the UIDAI resident portal.
It provides verification facility to service providers/Offline Verification Seeking Entity without having to store Aadhaar number.
How can residents share e-KYC document with service providers?
According to UIDAI, residents can share the XML ZIP file along with the Share Code to the concerned service provider as per their mutual convenience.
However, such service providers cannot share, publish or display either the Share Code or the XML file or its contents with any other agency/entity.
Any non-compliance with these rules shall invite due action under the Aadhaar Act, 2016.
How to generate offline Aadhaar
Visit the offline KYC page of UIDAI website.
Next, enter your 'Aadhaar number/VID' and the security code in the given space, and click on 'Send OTP.' Enter this OTP.
Finally, enter a share code that will be used as your password for the ZIP file and click on 'Download' button.
The said ZIP file will be downloaded on your device.
