Making online train reservations simpler and cheaper, Paytm has waived off service charge on train ticket bookings done through its platform. There's a good number of third-party payment gateways that facilitate online train ticket bookings.
Paytm VP said " Till October 2018, we used to charge a Payment Gateway fee, which is equivalent to 1.8% of the total order value on train ticket bookings. We are happy to have waived it off completely and offer this benefit to travelers," said Abhishek Rajan, Paytm Vice-President.
Recent reports suggest that Paytm witnessed more than threefold growth in its travel business, with 38 million plus tickets sold in FY 2017-18.
The travel customer base of the website also doubled to 9 million, last year.
In addition to ticket bookings, users can also check their train PNR status, seat availability and nearby station suggestions, on the Paytm app and website.
