It is known that, Aadhaar linking for PAN deadline was earlier announced to be as on March 31st and also with other welfare schemes has been now pushed to June 30. Petitions are challenging on constitutional validity of the Aadhaar scheme.
The government has now made Aadhaar identification mandatory for filing income tax returns, as well as for obtaining a new PAN card. As of the amendment of the Income Tax Act, every person having a PAN card as of July 1, 2017, and also eligible to obtain an Aadhaar card, must indicate his 12-digit Aadhaar number to the tax authorities.
