Android 6.0 Marshmallow set to rollout for Nexus, Android One

Google has announced the roll out of the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in October first week to the Nexus smartphones, tablets, and the Android One devices.

Dave Burke, Vice President of Engineering, Android announced that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be updated to Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 9, Nexus Player, and Android One devices. So, there would not be update to devices Nexus 4, Nexus 7 (2012) and the Samsung Nexus 10.

Google has also decided to push the Android 6.0 Marshmallow source code to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). However, the OTA update could take weeks to reach all Nexus devices worldwide. After several months of speculations, Google has finally ended the rumors by announcing the name Android M will be Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The new Android M is a good upgrade and the primal focus is on the bug fixes. The Android M focus is on six areas including App Permissions, Web Experience, App Links, Mobile Payments, Fingerprint Support and Power & Charging.

Google has announced the Doze on Android M, which is a new deeper-sleep state that uses motion detection to learn when a device is not in use, and keeps the device in the ultra power-saving mode. Doze feature still lets you get the important notifications, despite making your device to two times longer battery life.

Android M-wide support for USB Type C, or USB-C which is a reversible-type connector allows you to charge your phone or tablet three- to five times faster than the original one, plus you can also charge other devices as well. Android M Google will also support the fingerprint sensors, focusing on security and choice, and ties you with Android Pay mobile payments system.

With Android M, the apps permissions will also be altered, and they are mostly developer-focused improvements, which will provide a smoother and enhanced experience for Android users.
