7 Default Settings to change after Installing Windows 10

Windows 10 is the new desktop OS, which is packed with a plethora of useful new features like revamped Start menu, digital assistant Cortana, and Action Center to name a few. The new OS provides lot
of extensive advancements. However, some of things Microsoft has set as default are annoying. Check how to fix these settings by following the guide.

1. Stop automatic updates

Microsoft hasn’t provided Windows 10 Home users with the ability to pause or skip updates initially which annoyed many users. But later, it has backtracked it and allowed the Home users to stop automatic app updates, though it hasn’t given the option to users in letting the users to pause, or stop Windows updates.

2. Stop automatic restart

Many don’t want their system to reboot immediately every time it installed an update on the computer, though if you don’t have issues with automatic updates of the Microsoft. For rescheduling the automatic reboots, Go to Start menu, search advanced update, select Advanced Windows Update options. Under the Advanced Windows Update options, choose Advanced options and change the settings to Notify to schedule restart.

3. Disable Keylogger

Windows 10 by default observes what you’re typing and uses the feedback to make its service better. If you’re annoyed with update or fear for the security implications, you can disable the keylogging feature.

To Disable the Keylogger, Open Settings in Start Menu, Go to Privacy settings and select General option. 6. Stop sharing Internet connection to deliver Windows updates to others

Microsoft by default allows the Windows 10 to share the Internet connection to deliver Windows updates to other users, as the company does so in the peer-to-peer (P2P) fashion. However, the option can be disabled.

Go to Update & Security in Settings, Choose Advanced options link from the right by opening the Windows Update section to the left. Select Choose how updates are delivered and turn off the option. If you want to continue the share updates with other machines on your local network, then turn ON the option and select the PCs on my local network option.

7. Delete files for free space

The Windows 10 upgrade is bound to take up much of the space on your computer's hard drive, as in the initial month, Microsoft keeps the Windows files of your old OS, if in case you wanted to revert back to the old OS. If you make the decision to stick to Windows 10, you can delete the Windows.old folder from the C drive on your PC to claim the free space.

To delete the folder, Go to Start Menu and click Disk cleanup. Once done, click the drive for the scan process. Select the driver where Windows is installed. Now, click Clean up system files on the page. Once done, deselect the option except Previous Windows installation(s) and Click OK.
